In the United States Navy and Coast Guard, there is a tradition of conferring on members of a ship’s crew who were part of the ships company when it was commissioned the title of "Plank Owner". 

Plank Owner is not an official title, nor does it come with any special rank or privilege. It recognizes the tremendous amount of work performed by crew members leading up to the commissioning of a US Navy ship.

Being a Plank Owner of a Navy ship is a matter of pride and being acknowledged for one’s efforts in readying a ship for commissioning. It is a memento to the crew member that he or she was part of a historical event.

As a way of saluting all who have donated to USVetsDeliver, we will be sending you a USVetsDeliver Plank Owner certificate and registering your names as Plank Owners in USVetsDeliver. So that one day you can look back and say how you were part of bringing this vital service to Humboldt County during a national crisis.
